Scraps & Social is a place for fight performers to train, share skills and find their tribe.
Each Scrap is a 3-hour workshop combining physical training, fight choreography, performance and feedback. With a different focus each time, we'll explore a variety of skills chosen to support your work as a fight performer.
After class, stick around for a drink, join the WhatsApp group, and hang out with the people you’ve spent the last few hours throwing yourself around with.
Join us once a month, in London and the South West.
Let's have a scrap!
UPCOMING SCRAPS
COMING SOON...
TRAIN
Each Scrap includes physical training chosen to support your work as a fight performer. We’ll always start with a warm-up, before moving onto exercises and activities tailored to our session's focus. We work on strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, vocalisation, play, movement quality and more.
Our training will change from session to session, depending on what we’re exploring. We might focus on a particular physical skill, movement quality, style or approach, but it will always have a purpose: to develop your practice and give you something to take into choreography.
Think of it as the fight performer’s gym: every session is different, but everything is connected to the work.
FIGHT
This is where we put our training into practice. We’ll learn and pick up fight choreography, work with different people and play with the choreography together. You’ll practise learning, rehearsing and performing a fight, all within the same session.
You’ll get up and perform, receive feedback from the group, play with the notes and go again. The focus is on working quickly and collaboratively, responding to direction and seeing how much you can develop the fight with the time you have. There’s also the opportunity to film your work, so you can capture what you’ve created. Share it, save it, or just enjoy having a record of what you worked on.
Think of it as practicing getting the job done: build confidence in your ability to turn up, get stuck in, make changes and deliver the fight.
CONNECT
Scraps & Social is about the people as much as it's about the training. Come along to meet other performers and practitioners, share skills and ideas, and build connections with other fighty folk.
Stick around afterwards for a drink, join the WhatsApp group or come along to a social. Keep in touch between jobs and training, support each other, share what you know and celebrate each other’s wins.
Come for the training, stay for the people.
FAQ'S
WHY?
SO, WHY DID I CREATE SCRAPS & SOCIAL?

For those of you that don't know me, hi, I'm Roxanne (or Rocky); a fight performer and teacher with a background in musical theatre.
After years of working in the industry, across both musical theatre and the fight world, I wanted to create a space for fight performers to train, fight and connect.
In musical theatre, regular training is simply part of the job. Weekly dance classes, singing lessons and acting classes are a normal part of a performer’s life. After taking countless intensive combat courses and qualifying and requalifying in different weapon systems, I found myself wanting something similar for fight performers. So I set out to create a place to maintain the skills we’ve worked hard to develop, learn new skills that can enhance our fight work and continue to challenge ourselves and refine our work.
But it isn’t just about the training.
I’ve worked on some brilliant jobs where I’ve met some amazing people. Our fight world is full of kind, funny, generous and incredibly talented people. You work closely together, build strong relationships quickly, and then suddenly the job ends and everyone goes their separate ways. So, I wanted to create a space where we could keep those connections going.
It's about connection.
I briefly went a little left-field and did a Masters in Psychology, where I explored the impact of the musical theatre industry on performers. One of the things that really stuck with me was the importance of belonging. In our industry, there are periods of uncertainty, time out of work, and all the challenges that come with a freelance career.
I wanted Scraps & Social to be somewhere you could come back to, whether you’re in a contract or not. A place to stay connected to your work, your skills and your people.
I also wanted to create a space for skill sharing.
Fight performers carry so much knowledge and experience with them and often love sharing it with others. On any job or in any training environment, you might have a professional dancer, a black belt martial artist, a gymnast, a firearms expert or someone with years of experience in another practice.
I wanted to create a space where we could share our knowledge and skills with each other.
Because if you’re a fight performer, I’ll hazard a guess that you’ve got something worth sharing.
And finally, I wanted to encourage collaboration and support. Our industry can be competitive, and understandably so. But I believe there is room for all of us. We all bring something different to the table, and not every job is our job.
Scraps & Social is about getting together, challenging ourselves, sharing what we know, supporting each other and having a good old time doing it.
So, if you'd like to stay connected to your work, and your people, you're invited (yes you!) to join us.
