Our BADC accredited courses combine technique, safety and performance to help you grow as a versatile, confident performer and prepare for the demands of the industry.

Fight scenes are an integral part of storytelling across stage and screen, making stage combat a valuable skill for any actor to have in their toolkit.

We'll explore how movement, timing, reactions and vocalisation work together to bring fight scenes to life. Alongside developing your technique and performance skills, you'll learn to assess and manage risk, perform choreography safely and consistently, respond to direction and work collaboratively with others.

Our courses culminate in a BADC assessment, giving you the opportunity to showcase your skills and receive an industry-recognised qualification in dramatic combat.

TECHNIQUE

Great fight performance starts with great technique. From posture, form and footwork to energy, line and illusion, you’ll develop a strong understanding of the key principles and terminology of dramatic combat. You’ll develop the control, precision and consistency needed to perform choreography safely, effectively and repeatably. Just as importantly, you’ll learn to communicate clearly, give and receive feedback, respect boundaries and work with consent. These skills work together to allow you to perform with energy and commitment, knowing you can look after yourself and others.

PERFORMANCE

Through intention, vocalisation and bold acting choices, you’ll explore how to turn choreography into nuanced storytelling, ensuring that there’s more to the fight than a series of moves. We’ll look at how elements such as timing, reactions, eye line and sound help communicate what’s happening for your character, bringing their thoughts, feelings and experiences to life. Our BADC courses will allow you to develop the tools to create dynamic performances that are exciting to watch, rewarding to perform and successfully serve the story.

PREPARATION

Alongside developing your technique and performance skills, you’ll bring everything together in preparation for your BADC (British Academy of Dramatic Combat) assessment and the demands of the industry.

The BADC Standard level in particular is widely regarded as the baseline industry qualification for dramatic combat, providing a great foundation for actors looking to pursue fight work across stage and screen.

Get ready for your assessment. Get ready for the industry.
